Oat milk hot chocolate
Our 38% Oat milk chocolate flakes are a fully plant based milk chocolate made with smooth, buttery - and gluten free - oats, and Solomon Islands single estate dark chocolate.
In this recipe that's easy to make at home, we've used oat milk to create a vegan hot chocolate alternative to milk chocolate.
Ingredients + equipment (makes 1 medium cup):
Instructions - to make on the hob or microwave:
Heat 200ml (about one large mug) of milk in a saucepan on the hob, or in a large mug in the microwave. Make sure it doesn’t boil as this will affect the taste.
Add 8 teaspoons of 38% oat m*lk hot chocolate flakes, and stir through until melted.
Pour into a hot chocolate bowl or your favourite mug and enjoy your entirely plant-based hot chocolate.
Make your drink with:
Ingredients + equipment (makes 1 medium drink):
Start by making a small hot chocolate. Add milk up to level 2 in your shaker (about 100ml), then add 5 teaspoons of 38% oat m*lk chocolate flakes.
Put the shaker in the microwave (without the lid) for half a minute. Or, you can heat your milk on the hob and add it to the flakes in the shaker.
Put the lid on the shaker, making sure it’s pressed down, and then secure the lid fully. Shake for 10 seconds or until all the flakes melt. Then top up with cold milk.
For iced chocolates - add a couple of ice cubes to the shaker.
For milkshakes - Add 3 small scoops of dairy free ice cream, shake and then taste. You can add more ice cream depending on your taste preferences. Make sure to add small scoops or teaspoons of ice cream so that it melts properly.
Give your drink another quick shake, then pour and enjoy your iced chocolate or milkshake.
