Jens says: Have you ever tried chocolate and rosemary? It's one of my favourite combinations. Or, balance the bitterness of our 70% dark chocolate with the sweet flavour of Amaretto.
History: In the early 15th Century, Spanish explorers introduced cocoa to Europe and, once a little sugar had been added, it became the new favourite drink.
Instructions
Heat 200ml of milk (1 large mug) - frothed milk works best for the authentic Knoops taste. Add 8 tsp of chocolate flakes and stir until fully dissolved.
Pairing
Simple: Orange
Method: Finely grate an orange - not too deep, as you don't want the light, bitter part - to glean 1/2 tsp of zest, then add to your heated hot chocolate and stir, before pouring out.
Adventurous: Rosemary or lime
Method: Add a sprig of rosemary to your heated hot chocolate and stir, then let it steep for 1 minute before pouring out through a strainer. Or, finely grate a 1/3 of a lime and add the zest to your heated hot chocolate and stir, before pouring out.
