Try Knoopology with our 54% dark - a mellow, smooth chocolate with a good balance of sweetness, and a lingering finish.

Dark chocolate and fresh orange zest are a classic pairing – it’s one of our most popular drinks in store, and easy to recreate at home.

In the Knoopifier

Before we start you will need: 54% dark chocolate buttons, your choice of milk (cows, oat, almond, soya or coconut), a saucepan, a whisk, a zester and an orange.

To start, prepare the orange – get some hot water and soak it for a couple of minutes, then scrub the orange with a vegetable brush and soak again for a few minutes. This gets away all the impurities and wax (you don’t want that in your hot chocolate). 

Heat 175ml of your preferred milk and stir in 8tsps of 54% dark chocolate flakes until fully dissolved. 

Then prepare the zest - you don’t need that much as it is very fragrant. Also, don’t zest the orange too deep, you don’t want the light bitter part, just the top of the skin. You need around half a teaspoon of zest per medium cup of hot chocolate. Stir well and serve.

Next, put the milk into the Knoopifier (we recommend 175ml for one cup).

Add your chocolate buttons (we recommend 34g – approx. 5 teaspoons).

Put the lid on the Knoopifier and press the button four times (to the hot choc symbol).

Then prepare the zest - you don’t need that much as it is very fragrant. Also, don’t zest the orange too deep, you don’t want the light bitter part, just the top of the skin. You need around half a teaspoon of zest per medium cup of hot chocolate.

Put the lid on the Knoopifier and press the button four times (to the hot choc symbol).

The Knoopifier takes two minutes to make the perfect hot chocolate, then add the zest and stir well.
